Chris' Change of Command

Today was a big day. After almost 2 months of being at Ft. Jackson, Chris finally had his Change of Command Ceremony. He is both excited and anxious to take command. He is one of the few in his battalion to have actual combat training and his credentials surpass their expectations so they are happy to have him and we are super excited to be in a place where we can breath easy knowing we don't have to worry about deployments in the near future! Indeed, we have been blessed. As part of the traditional ceremony, the wife of the upcoming commander is given a dozen budded yellow roses...aren't they pretty!?!

Okay, there's a story behind this guy holding the flag in the front. Right before Chris was to give his speech this soldier fell out; apparently he locked his knees and passed out. Four soldiers had to carry him off the field. Chris said he was the talk for the rest of the day. Didn't anyone tell him the rule....NEVER LOCK YOUR KNEES...or is it that only the band students know that?!?....right Jerm!?!

up top, Chris is on the left...it's so hard to make them all out!

the traditional passing of the flag!

Because the weather was in the 40's I kept MiaLuz at home. Chris had such a good time being the center of attention. He was proud of daddy and kept pointing him out on the field.
