For years I have wanted to throw Mom a party for her birthday. Because we move so much and are never in Texas for her birthday it was just never possible. Well, this year she turned 65 years and I decided that now more than ever was the time to do it. So the plan went into action. After several changes in the plans and with the help of my sisters and Adela, Minnie's daughter-in-law, we finally were able to make it happen. We made it a 50's theme and decorated the church cultural hall in juke boxes, music notes, ol' cadillac cars, vinyl records; you name it, it was somehow put up on display! Besides the party itself, I was able to get the family to participate in a "Tribute Video" for the birthday ladies. We all said a couple of nice things about them, some funny, some sweet, and some just crazy~ lol It was really great and I know that was the best part of the party for them. They loved it so much and it's a little something they will be able to keep with them always.
It was sooo hard keeping the whole thing a secret and the last week up until the party Mom was starting to get aggravated with me for ignoring her and not inviting her to places that I was taking Noemi. But I knew once the party was over I could explain all the strange behavior. It was so awesome to be able to pull this whole thing off. We took 100 pictures at the party but I'll spare you and just share a few. The party was great and we had such a good time.
SURPRISE!!! So get this, Nomi was so excited about the whole thing she forgot to take the blindfold off of mom, she struggled for a minute until I came around and took it off her...crazy Nomi! lol
Mother and Minnie looooove mariachi's so Debbie's group came in playing a bit later. They were sooo happy to see them.
Mom always told us that for her birthday she would be happy to have Nomi sing for her so she surprised her with a song. As you can see in the picture, Mother was so overwhelmed by the whole thing she got teary eyed.
the gals dancing. Nomi is gonna kill me for posting this picture...lol
The party was a huge success. All the work was well worth it to see the look on my mother's face. Thank you to everyone that contributed. I couldn't have done it without you! Mother, I love you and wish you many more birthdays; just hope you don't expect this every year now! lol
