The 7th of May is Mom's birthday. She finally turned the big 65! It just so happened that Uncle Johnny flew in on that day to take the drive back to Texas with her so he was able to be apart of the festivities. We had a Fish Fry, courtesy of the hubby, and I made this yummy dessert. It was strawberry cake and I pureed some strawberries and poured it in holes that I had made throughout the top of the cake. Then I topped it off with frosting that I made from Cool Whip and Vanilla Pudding. It was soooo delicious, the best thing I have ever made by far. Chris was so impressed and we kept laughing at the fact that it was actually something that I made from scratch! I guess I can bake if I put my mind to it (or at least I can follow a recipe without messing it up!) Tif, you would be so proud of me! lol
look at all those candles...
"happy birthday to you...."

Beautiful isn't she!?!

So here are 10 things that I love about my mother:
1. She has had the patience to be an elementary teacher for over 20 years, and still loves the children...that in itself tells you alot about her character!
2. She has always remained faithful in the gospel and has been a great role models for me and my sisters.
3. Has been a single parent for 26 years and did a wonderful job taking on both roles of a parent.
4. Has loved me for who I am, the good and the bad.
5. Has ALWAYS been there for anyone and everyone in the family whenever we have needed her.
6. Is completely selfless, puts everyone before herself.
7. Instilled the love of music and dance in me since birth.
8. Taught me to never take things for granted, to be thankful for all I have.
9. She is the reason Wal-Mart is still in business after all these years! lol
10. She survived both of my pregnancies! Chris has been deployed both times I have been pregnant and the first 8 months of their lives. Mom stepped in and was that support that I needed. I know it wasn't easy and I will never forget all that she did for me. I know it wasn't easy!
I love you mom and hope you have many more birthdays to share with us. Can't wait to give you my present next weekend.....shhhhh!
