(quick note on the pic: The other night daddy was taken him out of the tub and I kept hearing him say, make it like Jesus'. Had no clue what the heck he was talking about until he came out. He made daddy wrap the towel around him so he could look like Jesus Christ. He meant the robe, but since he couldn't do it that way he put it around his waist. He came out yelling, Look mom, I am Jesus! How cute is that?)Ever since I can remember, we have been trying to teach lil' Chris the proper way to pray. We started very basic and little by little have tried to make him understand the meaning of what he is saying when he prays. This past January he finally started Sunbeams and loves his teacher. Sister Barber has taught him so much and it's so cute to see his face light up when someone mentions the Holy Ghost or Jesus Christ. Within seconds he will turn to us with a smile and say, "The Holy Ghost helps me!" or "Jesus loves me!"
The past couple months we have gotten into a routine where while I put Mia down for the night, Big Chris reads a story to lil' Chris and has him say his prayers. He has told me that he has improved on his prayer but it wasn't until we sat for dinner last night that I was able to here it completely.
Because Chris gets home late, it's very rare that we are able to sit as a family for dinner. So when we do it's a real treat! And it never fails... lil' Chris requests to say the prayer before we eat! What kind of mother would I be to deny him of that blessing!?!
So he begins as he normally does, taking a deap breath as if he is going under water..."Heavenly Father..." Then out of nowhere he starts saying things that I never heard come out of his mouth..."We thank you for our blessings, our family, the prophet, the Book of Mormon, the food...in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen." WHAT!??! I couldn't believe it...such a big prayer for a 3 year old. And he didn't even ask for help. Needless to say, I almost broke down in tears. It makes me realize just how valuable and special our children are. They are sponges, soaking everything up, the good and the bad.
Mia was sick with a high fever for the past 3 days and lil' Chris told Abuela that he wanted to give Mia a blessing so she would feel better. (This was brought on because we had him pray for daddy the other night when he was under the weather.) After the prayer he ran to daddy and said, "Okay, you all better now. Let's play!" These children are precious, truly sent from Heaven and I pray that their spirits shine on through all the adversity and trials that they are to face. I love my babies and I just wanted to share one of my best days with you. Hope all is well with ya'll!!!
