Flores Easter Fiesta!

We decided to have a little get-together on the Saturday before Easter. We invited a couple of our friends from church and ended up buying our BBQ pit the morning of. (We had actually been planning on buying the thing for months. Had it picked out and all, but of course just never got around to it!) So needless to say, we spent most of the morning putting the darn thing together. But it was well worth it. This thing is awesome. So here's the pic of the proud owner!
And here's the gang. This was the first time we were able to use the patio. We were so excited and everything looked so cute.

And here are the gals, hiding the eggs for the hunt!
We could hear the kids from the sunroom yelling at us and trying to have a peak!

The before pic, ready for take-off...

and they are off!!!.....

And there they are, ready to dig in...

So we decided to have a pinata. Not something we normally do on Easter but we said what the heck, the more fun the better, right?

The 2 families had never heard of cascarones before so I decided I was going to give a bit of history about them before we handed them out and let them go at it. But before doing that, I gave one to each of the ladies so we could get our husbands without them being able to get us back! So here was the suprise...

Our friend, Steve didn't know what the heck was going on and since he had no clue what it was that his wife hit him with he sat very still. He said later that he wasn't sure if there was some kind of liquid in it or what so he didn't want to move and get it everywhere. If only he knew the kind of cascarones we made back home...lol

The kids had so much fun and both families said they were going to make some and do it at their families Easter party today. It was nice that we were able to give them a bit of Mexican culture to take back to their families! We had a great time with them.

My mom and I were just talking about cascarones. She said they sell them everywhere. I did not make any of my own and missed them this year. Good for you to entertain and have some fun. I'm sure you will be using the BBQ a lot. Happy Easter to you and your family. (and mom)
