4th of July Weekend

This 4th of July will be one to remember. Many milestones were met.
Milestone #1- For months now, anytime we asked Chris to try a new food, do a new thing, he always responded by saying that he will do it when he turns 5. So a week after his birthday, Daddy called him out on it and asked him if he wanted to try a cheeseburger. After a bit of pondering, he said, "Sure, I'll try it!" Right then and there we turned the car around and ordered him one. (you have to jump on it before he changes his mind!) To our amazement, he actually liked it. To add to the excitement, he also tried ketchup for the first time with his fries. I about passed out with excitement! He has yet to eat a whole burger, but at least there is more variety in his diet. =)
Milestone #2- For months I have been attempting to potty train MiaLuz, but it's been difficult with the baby keeping me busy. I finally got fed up with the double diaper duty and told Chris that on the 4 day weekend we were gonna have to suck it up and babysit her until she did it. That Friday morning, I put her in one of lil' Chris shirts and had her bare bottom all day. (Chris did not like that idea. He kept saying she was going to poop on his shirt and would ruin it!) I planned on using this method the whole weekend, but it wasn't necessary. It only took one poopy accident on the kitchen floor, and after the big fuss we all made about how yucky she was for doing that, she never did it again! That was it! By Monday, she was 100% potty trained. Yippee!!!!
Milestone #3- baby Adan is teething, already! He actually has been sucking on his fist for weeks now. The poor thing is barely going to be 4 months and you can already see the teeth trying to come through. Besides that, he has also been cooing and laughing like crazy. It is so adorable. I have video of it, but for some reason our computer isn't letting me upload so please bare with me while I figure it out. ( Meemaw, lol)
So our life has been filled with all sorts of wonderful suprises lately. Just wanted to share the news!
Here are a couple of our favorite pictures of the month.
These Jordans were lil' Chris'. Our friend Beatrice gave them to us and I just love putting him in them! Doesn't he look big!?! You would never have known he had feeding problems and reflux with how chunky he is now!
And this is Daddy's version of "taking care of the baby!" lol too funny

4th of July weekend, on our way to the Pancake Breakfast at church

They asked all the military to dress up for the breakfast so we could honor all who have served and are still serving. I thought that was a nice idea.

Hope your weekend was a great one!

Baby Adan's Blessing

Baby Adan was blessed this past Sunday. We are so blessed to be in the ward we are in. The members feel like our extended family and we were so happy that they were able to share this wonderful time with us.
I was worried all morning... I didn't know whether to wait until after he was blessed to feed him, so he didn't throw up due to his reflux, but that would risk having him cry through it because he was hungry. We ended up giving him just an ounce to hold him over. It worked! He was an angel the entire blessing. Phew!

This little outfit is 31 years old! Big Chris wore it when he was baptized as an infant. I wasn't able to use it for lil' Chris since he was blessed when he was 1 week old. (He would have been swimming in it!) So I was happy that we could use it this time. Doesn't he look adorable!?! (If you look real close, you can see just how long his lashes are...I'm so glad all three kiddos got their daddy's lashes!)

Chris' 5th Birthday

A couple of weeks ago we threw Chris his 5th birthday party here at the house. I was dreading the whole "set up and break down" process, and honestly I couldn't have done it without Mom being here to help with the baby, but it turned out to be a great time. We put up a Moonwalk on the grass and had a kiddy pool, sprinkler, silly string, pinata, and water guns. The kids had a blast. The theme: Transformers!

yup, you can tell he's a ball player!

I just loved the cake's metallic coloring! So pretty, I mean cool!

The buddies

I love how MiaLuz is his sidekick. She sat there the entire time, just chomping on some candy!

He got so many great gifts from everyone. His favorite included a HUGE Bumblebee helmet, a Star Wars light saber, and an Iron Man riding a cool bike. But the best of all, the Wii! Thank you to Meemaw for that one!!!

First priority for the boys, connecting the Wii! I gave Mia a fake stick to pretend play. It works! They had to shed the clothes because they were playing boxing.

It was a great time for Chris and the kids. On to the next one....

eclipse

I am definitely not a book reader, never have been. But I can't deny that I have actually thought of picking up to read Twilight after seeing the first movie. Chris talked about this saga before it even got huge, telling me it would be something I would be interested in. But with the kiddos, I just never find the time. I would feel guilty if I put more effort in reading these books than the Book of Mormon!
Anyhoo, YES...we are totally hooked on the movies and cannot wait to go see it tomorrow night for date night! I am not a huge SCI-FI fan, but Bella is me in so many ways. Well, mainly the clumsiness! HA! And Chris loves to think he is Edward, irresistable to all! HA! (He's gonna hate me for writing that! You're irresistable to me, honey=)
Angie, your post is hilarious. I'm really shocked you aren't into the saga as much as the rest of the mormons/world! But Chris agrees in the fact that the movies do not do the books justice. I'll never know the difference I guess!
If you must know, I'm Team Jacob. It's something about the Lamanites that I just can't turn my back on! (It has nothing to do with Jacob's abs, I swear!) lol

Chris' Preschool Ceremony!

Chris' preschool had a little graduation ceremony for the 4 year old. They had the kids put on a musical program for us, singing all the songs they learned throughout the year, as well as a slide show to show all they accomplished. They also recognized all the kids that read books at home. Chris was recognized for reading over 550 books throughout the year!
There he is looking so proud as the parents clapped for him. There was only one other girl who read into the 500's, but Chris read the most out of all 4 classes. He is very proud of that.
At the end of the ceremony, they had the parents line up and make a tunnel for the kids to run through. I had no clue where Chris was going to be but I had my camera ready. Wouldn't ya know, he was the first one to sprint out. Later I was told that they put him in front because they knew he would lead them out with a bang! He was so excited to do that.
Chris' best friend, Daniel. Daniel was actually crying right before this picture because he was going to miss Chris. How cute it that!?!

One of his awesome teachers, Ms. Sherry

This picture makes me laugh so I had to post it. It was so bright out there that none of us could open our eyes big enough to look at the camera and smile. Chris kept complaining his eyes were tearing, Mia just didn't even try to look past the ground, and I, well when can you ever see my eyes anyway!?!

It Pays to be a Cowboy Fan, Literally!

Okay I've been meaning to post this incident but just haven't had the time until now....

About a month ago I was having one of the worst days in a while. Adan wasn't allowing any rest for me, I had no family in town yet since the delivery so I was literally a walking zombie, I had injured myself earlier in the morning, had a horrible time with the kids in the morning and then somehow left the house late to pick up the kids from preschool and daycare. These were just a few things that had piled up in a matter of 6 hours since the day had started.

I had just picked up Chris and was on my way to get MiaLuz when my phone rang. It was Noemi. She must have known I needed to vent. So I went off, rambling on how horrible the day had been going, how it couldn't possibly get worse...literally seconds after saying that I see the lights from a cop car, followed by the noise. GRRRR...I told Noemi I opened my mouth too soon and had to get off the phone.

So the cop comes to the window and asks me if I know why he pulled me over. Of course, my tags are expired, by 7 months! This is something Chris and I both realized the previous week. We normally rely on the notice to come in the mail to renew it, but we never received one. Chris attempted to get it taken care of but the DMV give the military such a hard time here so he was unsuccessful and had to wait until he had another free day to get down there. So he takes my TEXAS driver's license to go check it out. He comes back after just a few steps and asks if it was the money that kept us from renewing. I said no, we just forgot, plain and simple!

He is gone for about 5 minutes. When he returns he tells me, "I'll tell ya what, I am going to give you this ticket, but if you go and get this taken care of before the court date, just call me personally on my cell phone, I will meet up with you and squash the whole thing. And I'm doing all of this why?- Because of that huge star you have on the back of your Tahoe! That's right, I'm a HUGE Cowboy fan! He proceeded to show me his Debit and Credit card that have the Cowboy star on them. Then he rambles on how his Christmas tree, stockings, etc. are all Blue and Silver, and consist of souvenirs and memorabilia from the Texas Stadium. We ended up sitting there for another 10 minutes just talking about the Cowboys! We finally said our goodbyes and I literally just sat there for a minute saying out loud, "Seriously, did that just happen? Are kidding me?!?!" I was in total shock. So after all that bad luck in the morning, my day was saved by a Cowboy fan. Five days later I called him to deal with the ticket. Chris gave me really nice Cowboy star decal to give to him as a thank you. He was so excited about it and thanked me over and over.

So the moral of the story, don't EVER underestimate the Cowboy fans. We are everywhere and will always support each other, at any level. It pays to love tha' boys! Go COWBOYS!!!

A Visit to the State Capitol

One of the fun experiences we had with the grandparents was taking them to see the SC State Capitol. Well, it was actually way too hot and humid to enjoy it the way we would have liked but we knew Grandma Flores would love the trip so we did it for her. I took this opportunity to take some photos of the family. My goal was to get a really good picture of the entire family. All together, it makes 4 generations of Flores'. That is something that is very special and rare so I wanted to make sure I had some picture to remember it. Unfortunately, MiaLuz did a wonderful job deleting my pictures from my memory card in a matter of seconds. I could only retrieve half of my photos. Better some than none I guess.
Note to self: NEVER leave your child anywhere around the computer unattended. It only took 2 minutes of me leaving the room for her to get the job done!

You can't see them until you blow up the photo but there were 4 squirrels just chillin' on the lawn. Many more followed. It was so cool for the kids to get so close to them. You can tell they are used to being fed. Wish we would have known that so we could have been prepared! Next time...
The 4 Generations. How lucky we are to have them.

Walking those steps...uh! what a pain. Talk about a work out!

lil' Chris made it up first and posed as he was waiting for the rest of us.

Daddy's favorite word to make them smile, Cucamunga!...they just say it back and start cracking up. What it means, NO CLUE! but it works. Just one of many made up words by Daddy.
Grandma hanging out with good ol' George!
you know he's our baby, already posing...lol

It was a wonderful experience. For some reason the inside was closed that day so we definitely will be visiting again, soon!
