Okay I've been meaning to post this incident but just haven't had the time until now....
About a month ago I was having one of the worst days in a while. Adan wasn't allowing any rest for me, I had no family in town yet since the delivery so I was literally a walking zombie, I had injured myself earlier in the morning, had a horrible time with the kids in the morning and then somehow left the house late to pick up the kids from preschool and daycare. These were just a few things that had piled up in a matter of 6 hours since the day had started.
I had just picked up Chris and was on my way to get MiaLuz when my phone rang. It was Noemi. She must have known I needed to vent. So I went off, rambling on how horrible the day had been going, how it couldn't possibly get worse...literally seconds after saying that I see the lights from a cop car, followed by the noise. GRRRR...I told Noemi I opened my mouth too soon and had to get off the phone.
So the cop comes to the window and asks me if I know why he pulled me over. Of course, my tags are expired, by 7 months! This is something Chris and I both realized the previous week. We normally rely on the notice to come in the mail to renew it, but we never received one. Chris attempted to get it taken care of but the DMV give the military such a hard time here so he was unsuccessful and had to wait until he had another free day to get down there. So he takes my TEXAS driver's license to go check it out. He comes back after just a few steps and asks if it was the money that kept us from renewing. I said no, we just forgot, plain and simple!
He is gone for about 5 minutes. When he returns he tells me, "I'll tell ya what, I am going to give you this ticket, but if you go and get this taken care of before the court date, just call me personally on my cell phone, I will meet up with you and squash the whole thing. And I'm doing all of this why?- Because of that huge star you have on the back of your Tahoe! That's right, I'm a HUGE Cowboy fan! He proceeded to show me his Debit and Credit card that have the Cowboy star on them. Then he rambles on how his Christmas tree, stockings, etc. are all Blue and Silver, and consist of souvenirs and memorabilia from the Texas Stadium. We ended up sitting there for another 10 minutes just talking about the Cowboys! We finally said our goodbyes and I literally just sat there for a minute saying out loud, "Seriously, did that just happen? Are kidding me?!?!" I was in total shock. So after all that bad luck in the morning, my day was saved by a Cowboy fan. Five days later I called him to deal with the ticket. Chris gave me really nice Cowboy star decal to give to him as a thank you. He was so excited about it and thanked me over and over.
So the moral of the story, don't EVER underestimate the Cowboy fans. We are everywhere and will always support each other, at any level. It pays to love tha' boys! Go COWBOYS!!!
