HELP!

Baby Adan has developed acid relfux along with colic...yup, not a fun combination! My other 2 had reflux but never as serious as his. He literally sounds like he is choking all day long, then screams out in pain and discomfort. His pediatrician has put him on Zantac for the reflux and I am now on my 3rd formula to see if this one will be any better for him and have started adding a bit of cereal to thicken up the milk. But I have yet to see any difference with either. I have run out of ideas and find myself crying right along with him at 4:30 am...I just feel so bad for the little guy! Any suggestions, mamas? I'm desperate and will try anything to help ease his pain. Please comment... : ( Please keep him in your prayers!

Oh Blanca, I am so sorry! That sounds terrible! I am not much help at all. I will ask around and see if anyone has any ideas that would help Adan.

Are you breast feeding? Or just doing formula? Would he be having trouble even if you were breast feeding? I am asking because I don't know anything about this stuff! LOL

i breast fed with the other 2 for the first several months and they also had the reflux, but never the colic. i have friends that had dealt with colic ever while they nursed. some people will say differ but from experience, it doesn't matter either way. the reason any of it happens in the first place is because their tiny digestive systems have not fully develped and or are allergic to cow's milk (in certain formulas), especially if they come earlier than full term. also, babies "fight" the natural urges to get rid of toxins, such as gas, bowel movements, etc. so they tightem up and make it more difficult than it should be....ok, probably way more info than needed but you asked! lol

Thanks for sharing! It makes sense, and again, I don't know how it all works, so I have just been enlightened ;)

blanca- Erika was my only colicy baby. I nursed only as well. Never dealt with acid reflux. Erika screamed for 6 months. And me as well. Nothing consoled her. It was painful to know she was hurting and nothing I did helped... till 3 a.m. after 4 plus months I had the thought to put her in a warm bath. She " POOPED" and was done crying. She would tighten up her muscle and fight that urge. After that anytime she cried and screamed I put her in a warm bath and she would poop. She wold sleep and cry less. I do not know if that was the answer. But, it helped so much. I will pray for him and you. I know its so hard to see your little one cry and nothing you do helps. Hang in there. It does it get better with time. Praying for you both.( and the family) Try not to stress. I think they feel it. I would anticipate Erikas crying spells. ( always at dinner time till 4 a.m.) Try to relax and getsome rest. Thinking and praying for you.

I did not scream for 6 months. How can you when they are babies. I did cry right along with her and prayed constantly for help. I will ask around and see what if anything is new out there.

B,
When serena was a baby she had reflux...the dr. put her on a different formula...and also suggested that we have her sleep in her carseat because its at an incline and helps keep the milk down...and especially to do it at night...so that you can sleep....good luck!!!! i know it tough..but you are strong and will get through it....
