David and Goliath

For a while now, lil Chris' favorite Bible story has been David and Goliath. He asks us to read it several times a month and is just so amazed how a young boy could "beat up" such a huge monster. The other day, he brought me the scraps of a project I was working on. I didn't understand why he was asking me to tie it around his waste and head until he came back into the room with his "sling shot". (He always uses this red scarf as his sling shot!) He yells out, "I am David, Mommy! Where's Daddy?" (Poor Daddy is always Goliath!) He also brought out another red sash so Mia could play along; what a good brother!Before I knew it they were in full theatrical mode. Daddy started stomping around as Chris swung his sling shot in the air...

Then with a "thud", down went Daddy, safely on the bed of course! lol

The kids quickly got up on the bed and started attacking. It was so hilarious. What's even funnier is that 90% of the time Chris actually does hurt Daddy. (he gets a bit carried away!)

Meanwhile, MiaLuz enjoys every minute of it and is cracking up at the whole thing.

Well, the next day I had gone to the Dollar Store to pick up several little toys to give to a charity the RS has been working with. While looking for his own toy to snatch, Chris comes across a REAL sling shot! He got sooo excited and couldn't wait to go home and test it out. He kept saying, "Now I can REALLY be David!"

It was quite a difference from the pretend sling shot, but once I showed him how to use it a couple of times he got the hang of it. He was thrilled at how far the ball launched and couldn't wait to use it on Daddy when he got home!
