For years, I have been wanting a piano. It's been so long since I have been able to really sit at a piano and enjoy it. Growing up, I took for granted the luxury we had under our own roof. I remember sitting at the piano many of times, but never really realized how lucky we were to have it, how much we all learned and how many memories were made sitting on that piano bench.
I have missed having a piano and have always felt like my home wasn't complete without one, but because we move so often, it just didn't make sense to buy a new piano, just to have it scratched and beaten up with every move.
On Mother's Day weekend, one of our friends had to move unexpectedly and were trying to sell their piano. I had seen it months before and had fallen in love with it. Something about it just captured me and I remember not even really being able to concentrate on my visit with them because I just kept staring at this piano. I wanted it soooo- bad, but after talking to Chris, we decided we couldn't afford what they were asking for it. I was so bummed. The next day, Chris went to go help them pack up and called me. They had been unable to sell for the price they wanted so Chris made an offer and they took it. He called me up to let me know he was bringing it home. WOOHOOO! I was so excited....Then stumped...Where the heck were we gonna fit a piano!?! Who cares! I told him to just bring it over and I would MAKE room.
So here's the history on this beauty...
It's a Schiller 1911- Cabinet Grand Piano
It's over 100 years old. Back in the 1900's, his home was in a Bar/Saloon. There's a ring on the right top corner from one of the whisky cups they used back then. And apparently has some stories of it's own. The back is covered with bullet holes....oh, if this beauty could talk... The keys look great, no problems at all. Has a wonderful sound to it.
Within the first 30 minutes of him being in his new home, he was cleaned, oiled up, and ready for playing. Of course, the kids had to get first dibs. Lil' Chris has been asking me to start him in piano lessons for a year now. We are both so excited to be able to actually do it now that he has a place to practice! He starts in July.

I love the last picture of the feet dangling--great shot!
Congratulations--a good looking piano.
Nothing like music in the home. It brings the spirit and provides peace. So happy for you and your mother's day gift. I'm sure it will bring music to your ears and joy to your heart!
