Strawberry Pickin'

For years I have wanted to go to the strawberry farm...YEARS! For one reason or another, I never made it out there. So when some friends said they were planning a trip I jumped on it. I was sooo-excited to take the kids. Chris was nice enough to stay with baby Adan at home so I could go and act like a child in a candy store!

It was amazing- STRAWBERRY HEAVEN!!!

The kids immediately took off into a row...had no clue what they were doing or what they were looking for exactly, just started walking. I finally stopped them and gave them specifics on what to look for in a good strawberry. "Only pick the big red ones! BIG and RED!" ...and off they went again.

After much searching, MiaLuz finally found one that met her approval. "Dis one's red mommy. I like dis one. Pretty stawberry!"

Chris asked if he was allowed to eat them and I said sure....so here's his first taste.

...and then MiaLuz decided to join him.

And then they had more,

...and more....

...let's just say more went into their mouth than in the bucket. Needless to say, it took us quite a while to fill the buckets.

This place is HUGE. This is the front view.

The back left side.

and part of the right side....like I said, HUGE....I was loving every minute of it!

MiaLuz took it upon herself to spot and point out EVERY strawberry that had been smooshed on the ground. "EEW Mommy, Yucky stawberry!"

Chris' biggest pick!

When we were leaving there was a sampling station set up. There was strawberry salsa, strawberry dressing, strawberry juice, the works...YUM!

It was a beautiful morning. We came home with 2 big buckets of the yummiest fruit. Not to my surprise, when I went to wash and freeze them, almost half of them had a bite taken out of them. I couldn't store a half eaten strawberry, so I just had to eat them! ; )
Fun Fun Times. Something I will definitely do again.

I wish I was near a strawberry farm! I have made strawberry jam a couple of times in the last few months and I won't ever buy store bought if I can possibly help. You guys are so lucky!!

Homemade jam is the best. I finally tired freezer jam last summer. It was just as good and not as much work. It was so good on banana bread.

Looks like you had some great helpers.
